Notations:
An earthquake registering a preliminary magnitude of Mw 5.8 occurred at 12:11, July 8, south of the Andreanof Islands of the central Aleutian Islands chain. The quake was centered about 66 miles southeast of Adak in the Pacific Ocean. It occurred within the eastern portion of the aftershock zone caused by the powerful M7.9 earthquake on June 10, 1996. There were no reports if the quake was felt.
